Saturday 4 March 2017
Saturday - A beautiful morning. Clouding up a bit in the afternoon.

I mowed, whacked and edged the front lawn, then, forgetting rain was prophesied, put down some weed and feed spray oil.  Well, maybe we'll get lucky and not get anything...

Lunch with the usual crowd at the Korean BBQ (first time this year for me!), then home to nap and do some more tax preparation stuff.

Over to watch movies in the evening: "Life:Animated" and another documentary I can't remember.  Both were OK, my friend was a little disappointed at the Life thing because really it's a sequel to the book.

Friday 3 March 2017
Friday - Decent weather. They are predicting rain this weekend, sometime.

Had my checkup at the oral surgeon.  They said there was no sign of infection, and that the occasional pain was the bone still healing.  And that I was good to go for further dental stuff, as needed. Yay, I guess.

Did a bit on the app in the afternoon.

Did a bunch to tax related stuff as well.

Thursday 2 March 2017
Thursday - Beautiful weather.

Went for a 6 mile walk in the late morning.  It was t-shirt and shorts weather.  Oddly people kept smiling and waving at me out in the rural areas...maybe they were just pleased to see someone else enjoying the sunshine?

And no, my fly wasn't unzipped - I checked.

Planes have been flying (noisily) over the house for the last few days - out walking I realized that it was a B-1B, at pattern altitudes.  We have had a lot of light east winds, which changes the usual Plant 42 pattern to passing directly over Lancaster.

It would have made a great picture, even on the cell phone, with flaps and landing gear down, landing light shining as it banked to the south directly before me.

Worked on the app, made a couple of updates.

S called, reported a problem with one of the levels,  I tried it here and couldn't replicated it.  Great. But it might be the iPad mini version. I don't doubt there's a problem, but it's hard to debug without a way to replicate here in front of me.

I also discovered that
  1. Xcode won't let me compile for any iOS version prior to iOS8.  It was working earlier this year I know, because I'd used the old iOS7 iPad for testing something.  Great.
  2. Xcode also is "deprecating' the UIAlertController,
  3. Xcode is no longer supporting MPMoviePlayerController

In late afternoon the oral surgeon's office called and reminded me that I had a check up tomorrow.  Great. I'll ask them about the occasional pain I still feel, surgery and  $2k later.

Book #11
was The Last Coven (Tome of Bill #8), by by Rick Gualtieri. This was the last book in the series, and the author wrapped it up, mostly, in a fair and reasonable way (I'd guessed some of the ending elements already).  He left an out for a continuation, but it's a decent ending.  It was a fun, a mind-candy sort of series.  I disliked the anti-christian swipes, but that's almost required in a lot of modern fantasy (though not all).

Noisy all day.  Heavy bass from a block away for hours in the afternoon (not the usual suspects), then circling helicopters for an hour or two, then more bass until after 6pm.

I want to move so bad.  And my next door neighbor Dave has now said he's moving back to Kentucky, so I have to decide if I want to deal with whoever replaces him.  Prices are up, I can sell or rent.  Probably sell, since I need cash for a new place. But that means various bits of repair work out-of-pocket.  And some interior stuff, though they say just to give an 'allowance' for carpets and stuff.

Wednesday 1 March 2017

Wednesday - More nice weather.  I need to fix that broken sprinkler head so that I can run the sprinklers soon...

I wanted to unwind some app changes, so I decided to just start anew from a couple of commits back.  Only apparently you can't create a new branch from a previous commit.  At least not from Xcode.  You can unwind a file, or files, back to the beginning of a commit, but you can't branch off from an earlier commit....  Bizarre.   There are some command line workarounds, but they didn't work for me.  One person listed a long list of steps to do this, ending with the comment that at the end it was the equivalent of a 1970's RCS system.

So, I just tried to switch to master to do something...only that was gone.  The master branch was empty.  I always thought GIT was incremental, I guess not.  So I went back to the branch I'd been working on...and files were missing.

After the little adventure earlier with Xcode and GIT I was savvy enough to have backed up everything, multiple times, before starting today's endeavor, but, wow....

Book #10 was The Wicked Dead (Tome of Bill #7).

Tuesday  28 February 2017
Tuesday - Nice weather.

Working on the app, taxes, stars stuff.  Very stressful, as always.

Noisy outside.  I need to figure out a way to sound insulate my office window.  I tried a piece of plywood, it doesn't seem to help as much as I would have thought.  But apparently one needs absolutely no cracks or sound seeps through, and some sort of deadening material as well. Maybe a piece of drywall glued to the plywood and heavy rubber seals around the edge.

Book #8 was Goddamned Freaky Monsters (Tome of Bill #5).

Book #9 was Half a Prayer (Tome of Bill #6).  I said I was stressed, I guess this was an escape reading binge...
Monday 27 February 2017
Monday - Another nice day.

Had a meeting and talked to S about some stuff.  We will probably drop a level that the kids are having real trouble with, it's kind of out of the flow of the main app, and let switches be an update after a Beta release.  Lots of small changes, that actually add up to quite a bit of work. But I would really like to ship something to someone, even as beta.

Book #7 was Holier Than Thou (Tome of Bill #4).

Sunday  26 February  2017
Sunday - Shopping. I did a fair amount last week, so this was just some perishable small stuff, sandwich meat, ice cream and such.

No programming stuff, to save my hands...

Book #6 was The Mourning Woods (Tome of Bill #3), by Rick Gualtieri.
