WEEK 5 2021
Last Week- Sun- Mon- Tue- Wed- Thur- Fri- Sat- Next Week
Saturday -Nice winter weather.
Went to CostCo with AH, refilled the propane tank, did a few other minor chores.
I got lucky and the water heater pilot did not go out when switching the tanks after refilling the big one. It happens once in a while.
Book #8 was Heaven's River (Bobiverse #4) by Dennis Taylor. Amusing.
Heard from KH, he's finally leaving Japan for Norfolk, but will stop to visit in California on his way. Looking forward to seeing him.
Friday -Wind has mostly died down, we are back to normal winter weather, broken clouds, temps in the mid-30-s to low-60s.
I ran out of propane overnight. Weird, it's only been a few weeks - mid-December at the worst - since I filled. Oh well. I attached a small tank and AH says we can go pick up some at CostCo tomorrow, he has shopping to do then anyways.
Thursday - Windy.
One small section of fence fell over, which isn't bad, given that wind speeds were nearly 60mph. I set it upright again.
Wednesday - Starting to get windy again. We actually had some flakes of snow falling, though it all melted when it hit the ground. Lots of snow on the hills around the valley.
I did set up the fence, and put bricks in all the cinder-block voids. This means that each individual cinderblock 'post' weighs about 50#.
Tuesday - Just a normal winters day, nothing special happening.
I went out and started cleaning up - I mostly filled the bagster with tumbleweeds, stomping on them and such. They'll compress down in a day or two, then I'll add more. With any luck I can use the neighbor's green waste bin.
I also took down the Xmas lights. They've been off for a while, but I've been waiting for a break in the weather, and when I didn't have other projects going on.
I didn't get to setting the fence back up again though.
In the afternoon I worked on SwiftUI stuff. I kind of like it, though I'm reading that when you hit it's limits you hit hard...
Monday - Another extremely windy day. The personal weather station nearest me showed gusts of 57mph, which isn't 70mph, but still pretty high. Enough to do damage, I imagine a few trees will need some surgery around the neighborhood after this.
The fence blew over, parts of it anyways. The wind is from the west, rather than the north-east, so it's partially protected by the house. The parts that fell were the exposed bits to the north. Oh well.
Tumbleweeds blowing the other direction, Suzy hiding under the bed, minor bits of snow in the air but nothing sticking. Same old same old.
They are predicting another big storm by the end of the week, but it looks like it might bypass us for NorCal.
Sunday - A normal day to start with.
Did the usual shopping with S. We also went by Lowe's and Home Depot to look at trees. She is after me to plant while the planting is good...
They were really wiped out, bare root tree's were very limited.70MPH winds predicted!! This sucks. Not sure what to do. Maybe I'll just stack some other bricks in the holes in the cinderblocks, which will add weight, 35# or 40# per post. I already took the lights off.
I am struggling finding anything I want to watch on TV. Crunchyroll is almost unusable, and there just isn't much on Prime that I care for. I should start season 5 of The Expanse, I think it's out now.
