Saturday 22  December  2018
Saturday - Working away on this and that.

I finally put up the string of Xmas lights, 100' of LED bulbs almost perfectly fits the front eave length of the house.  Now I wish I'd bought three or four strings!

I had the pellet stove go out.  I think I need to empty the ashes in the flue descender, but it's kind of a pain to do, you have to pull the stove out from the chimney and so on.

It's been warm enough that I just run the heater for a couple of hours in the morning, but it's supposed to get colder next week and it's good maintenance heat. I did pick up a couple of bags of pellets and a small shop vac at Walmart the other day, but I need to get a bunch of bags of pellets eventually.

S's dogs did OK, one of them had an "accident" - the puppy, so I washed everything and aired it out on the fence during the day. (It's been in the 50's during the day, with some clouds and a few windy days.)

I received a few texts from San Diego, sounds like things are going well.

The neighbors dog has been barking constantly, I saw a car there today and went by, knocked, and finally met the owner and explained the situation.  He seems amenable to fixing things.  You never really know with dog owners, some are really nuts (my father used to say "the bigger the dog the bigger the nut the owner is"), but RD seems OK, and said he'd fix it. He even gave me his phone number to call if there was an issue.

I really don't want to call animal control, the fines are huge ($100 for the first offense after a caution) and your neighbors will hate you forever.  On the other hand I've reached the end of my endurance with it.

Friday 21 December 2018
Friday - Clear and cold.

S is back in town, and came by to pick up one of the dogs.  She and R are leaving for San Diego on Sunday, so there's no sense in transporting all the dogs and kennels home, and then back again on Sunday.

But she needed Krypton, the therapy dog, for a client.

She'll bring him back on Sunday.

Thursday 20 December 2018
Thursday - Cool and cold.

Kaiser went fine.  Anesthesia is wonderful stuff. My friend and neighbor Aaron drove, since I wasn't allowed.

Wednesday 19 December 2018

Wednesday - Pleasant weather.

"Prepping" for Kaiser tomorrow.  Everything is fine, it's just a precautionary thing, but it takes it out of you.

Tuesday 18 December 2018
Tuesday - A pleasant day.

I had a visit at Kaiser, just a checkup before Thursday.  Did a bit of shopping in town.

Monday 17 December 2018
Monday - It's going to be a busy week, not much time to relax, unfortunately.  Not even time to shop.

The Explorer has issues starting.  So far it has, eventually, started, but it's kind of nerve wracking going anywhere. Possibly it's a fuel pump issue, possibly a computer thing.

Book #46 was Destroyer (Expansion Wars Trilogy #3), by Joshua Dalzelle.

Sunday 16 December 2018
Sunday - A typical winters day for the AV.

Cool in the morning.  I set up a little tent in the garage, out of a canvas tarp, over the dog kennels I then put a 60W light bulb under a metal bucket, and it keeps the area in the 50F temperature range at night.  The roof of the garage is not insulated, so it gets cold in there. The bucket is warm to the touch, not hot, and is vented, so there isn't any fire hazard with the canvas.

Book #45 was Iron & Blood (Expansion Wars Trilogy #2), Joshua Dalzelle.
