Saturday - Reasonable weather, but cold. 20F overnight. I brought in the hummingbird feeder, but the heater kept the water in the bird bath liquid.
Blue Origin had a decent New Shepard flight.
Went to the astronomy outreach at the Desert Preserve with Roger. It was bitterly cold. There was also a lighted Xmas display right next to us, but since the haze and city lights made it necessary to just look at the bright planets it wasn't any big deal.
Heh. One of the guys, with his telescope, was talking about being a flight line mechanic in Alaska during the cold war..."this is NOTHING"...but he was audibly hoping for the parks light to come on at 9pm so he could go home early.
Friday - OK weather.
Received a present from bob, a dash cam for the car!! Whoo, now I can prove what idiots everyone else are...
Book #70 was Risen
(AV #12), by Benedict Jacka. This wraps up the Alex Verus
series. It was a decent and workmanlike job, but there wasn't much
of a spark to it, and a bit of deus ex machina stuff at the end.
Thursday - Decent weather.
I had to take Suzy in for a shot, not a happy kitten, though not as upset as the first couple of times.
Wednesday - Overcast weather.
Poor Suzy, clearly under the weather, but I am somewhat forgiven...especially around feeding time.
It sprinkled enough to turn the dust on the truck to mud, but not enough to wash it clean. The mountains near Tahoe are getting some snow, which is good.
About two hours at the dentist, and a new crown to be fitted at the end of the month. This wasn't a root canal, just a repair of an older cracked inlay.
Poor S, her mother is still nuts, still making waves and needing to be rescued several times a week. At this point S is just a NPC for her mother's drama, A isn't even pretending to be reasonable or thankful for the efforts and time and money. Just continuous crazed demands.
Tuesday - Decent weather.
Started working my way through some of my Christmas reading list.
I want to go out and 'finish' the paves at the step in back, but my hands are just trashed after doing a bunch more compaction last week. Another half day of work and it's "done", at least for this year. It's frustrating, but no rush I suppose, so it goes.
Monday - Decent weather.
Just fiddling around, doing this and that.
While cleaning out some stuff from the Ram I found Roger's Xmas coffee cup from the Astronomy Club. I thought I'd lost it or forgot it, just misplaced.
Sunday - Decent, cool in the morning.
Did not go shopping with S in the morning. too tired after star gazing last night.
S texted that the shelves were as bare as she's ever seen them in the 99 cent store.
She is also having fun using illustrations from old Dictionaries and Encyclopedia's for the tutorial part of the app.
Not much else going on. Did a bunch of wash, and the usual
household chores, in the afternoon. Trying to get ahead of the Christmas
cleaning.
