Saturday 7 December 2013
Saturday - Windy, cold, overcast and wet. A nice day to sit indoors and watch TV and read, which is what I did. Even Riley didn't want anything to do with the outdoors, after a couple of short morning excursions.

It hasn't been as cold as predicted, only in the mid 20's at the lowest, but that is still pretty cold for the bare paws of a cat!

It's amusing watching the cats. The kittens will often follow Riley about (to his annoyance). It's like watching a battleship (Riley), followed by a cruiser (Jimmy), with a destroyer bringing up the rear (Suzy). They generally know when I'm heading up to bed, and they form a little parade of felines each time. They don't actually hang around or go to sleep right away, I suppose the night is a naturally active time for them, but by morning I'm surrounded by cats on the bed.

Friday 6 December 2013
Friday - OTR. Still down in Ventura. It was cold on Thursday night, about 42F, and I was nice and comfortable in my usually too-hot sleeping bag. I even turned the little electric heater on a couple of times.

Finished up the GIS update stuff, and the report. Sent the report off to the client, created a DVD with the data for delivery next week. Create the invoices - we certainly used up all the time on that work order.

They really should hire us to finish up inputting their other channels, not sure if they will. It's harder than you'd think...

Waiting for traffic to clear in the early evening I went by Fry's Computers. It was depressingly empty - I saw a grand total of five people, for example, in the entire computers/laptops/tablets section of the store. And they got rid of their computer books section, completely, which is what I really wanted to browse through. I also went by Costco, next door, but there isn't anything I actually want, so I was just killing time.

Back to Lancaster in the evening. Lots and lots of traffic, even at 7:30pm. Christmas traffic? Dunno. A friend driving from Lancaster down to San Diego said it took four hours to get there.

The cats were happy to see me - I could tell by the way they ran over to their food bowls and looked up! It was cold and windy, so I lit up one of the Duraflame logs into the fireplace. The kittens had never seen a fire before...

Thursday 5 December 2013

Thursday - OTR. Down to Ventura. Put in a full day working on the GIS Update stuff. I had assigned some tasks to a co-worker, but that really wasn't working out long distance. We made good progress though.

Wednesday 4 December 2013

Wednesday  - Working away on various things. That final report and the form for the deliverables is giving me fits, I'll have to head down to Ventura tomorrow to finalize things.

Book #48 was Young Sentinels (Wearing the Cape), by Marion G. Harmon. This was another in the 'wearing the cape' series, and pretty good. Ostensibly a YA (Young Adult) it's actually a pretty good look at a world where suddenly some people can become Super Heroes - or Super Villains. The heroes or "Capes" are pretty well drawn, and their interactions with each other, the civilians, the police and the government are well thought out and interesting.

I also read Omega Night, a stand-alone story set in the same universe. Too short to be counted here, but hey, I've three weeks left to reach the 50 book level....

It is supposed to be cold tonight - and it was already just above freezing by 8:00pm.

Did I mention noticing that the starfish are still hanging out on my slip finger in Oxnard. They've been around for years now.

Tuesday 3 December 2013
Tuesday - I had a number of errands to do but the day sort of turned into a Monday.
Essentially the whole day went like that. By 4:00 I'd pretty well run out of steam. And of course later in the evening CrunchyRoll went down, midway through a show...

I wanted to rake up some leaves, but there was a howling gale all day, which meant I'd just be sending them to my neighbors. I'm not the friendliest guy in the neighborhood, but I draw the line at actually causing more work for other people.

It is supposed to be cold, below freezing, so I spent some time covering sprinkler manifolds and insulating the rear hose bib. By evening it was raining - which meant it was warmer than you'd think.

No chance for viewing comet Lovejoy. I seem to be kind of snake bit on comets this year...

Monday 2 December 2013
Monday - Working away on this and that. There is still a bit more work on a report for a client, and CB is doing some updates, so we did some to-and-fro on that.

Most of the day Suzy was kind of under the weather, not really up to wrestling with Jimmy. I kept her in the spare bedroom, with food, water and kitty litter. By early evening she was nearly back to her rambunctious self, and I was delivered from the unadulterated attention of a hyperactive Jimmy.

Did I mention that 'autorotate' is broken on the Samsung Stellar now? If I turn it off everything is in portrait, no matter what the phone's orientation. If I turn it on everything is in landscape, no matter what the phone's orientation.

Sunday 1 December 2013
Sunday - A nice warm weekend. I did various chores around the house in the morning.

As I mentioned last week, because of Suzy's bad reaction a month ago, last week I asked that they only do two of the five shots, and we headed down to Palmdale and got her the last of the booster shots. I predict she'll be a subdued kitten tomorrow..

S also took Angel, and got her name and registration officially moved other to reflect her (S's) mother's ownership. Sadly the foster parents weren't at PetSmart to say goodbye.

We had an LPAC performance in the mid afternoon. Unfortunately R, who had selected it, hadn't come back from biking by the time it started, so it was just two of us. I went without many expectations, but it turned out to be a high energy and very entertaining production! I had "Hear a Mariachi Band do the Nutcracker Suite" on my bucket list, now I can scratch that off:-) Who knew that Tchaikovsky was from Jalisco?
