WEEK 46 2021
Last Week- Sun- Mon- Tue- Wed- Thur- Fri- Sat- Next Week
Saturday - Nice weather. We had a few clouds in the last few days, but nothing today.
There was a nice conjunction of Venus and Luna, just a few moon diameters apart, with Venus in the concave side of things. Very pretty.
Went to the local astronomy clubs ( AVAC) outreach at the Prime Desert Reserve in Lancaster in the evening, with Roger. That was fun.
Suzy has mostly forgiven me, but the cat carrier in the corner is still getting growls and hisses.
Looks like the Kaiser strike is canceled, they settled already. Strange.
Friday -Nice weather.
Took Suzy into the vet. Oh boy. NOT a happy traveler.
Doing various small chores and tasks around the house, getting ready for winter.
Started going through the SwiftUI book.
Thursday - Decent weather.
I got notice that Kaiser is striking Monday...got that foot surgery in just under the wire I guess. I had an optometrist visit for late December, not sure if that will be affected.
Ordered a (kindle) SwiftUI book, started working through the tutorials. It's not quite Monkey-See/Monkey-Do, but it isn't Newburg.
Took Jim into the vet. He was pretty traumatized by the carrier and trip, it's been a few years since his last checkup. He was fine, but needs his teeth cleaned, so I set up an appointment for that.
Wednesday - Decent weather.
Poor S. Her mother has been given a notice of eviction at another place. Now she is dealing with that, on top of poor T's issues.
I went to the dentist, for a cleaning and checkup. Doc wants to replace a couple of old crowns with damage underneath. Not surprised, it's been 30 years or so for those. Most costs.Suzy will be Friday. Ugh, she hates hates hates the carrier and
vets. Still, needs to be done.
Tuesday - Decent weather.
Went into Kaiser in the morning, got a flu and pneumonia shot, saw Dr. Mohammed, got a refer to the foot specialist at the other campus...for 3:30pm. Urk.
That doctor took a look at the toe.
Doc: "I can do that now. Do you want the operation to permanently remove that part of the nail, or just temporarily?"
Me: Now? Now? What? And why would anyone want it permanently gone?
Doc: Reasonable chance it'll grow back ingrown and need re-doing, and the operation kind of stings.
Me: (in a quavering voice): Temporary...
And, just like before, the shot(s) to numb the toe HURT LIKE HELL. Not so much "sting" as it was "pain". Still, in a couple of weeks I should be able to start my walks again - honestly I should have done this months ago.
Monday - Decent weather.
Spent some time research SwiftUI stuff. I can't quite find what I'm looking for...wondering if there's a problem with the way I'm attempting to do things. I could go back to plain UIKit I suppose, I know that what I am trying to do works there.
Also got some replies from S on stuff I'm trying to do, what she expects to see.
She's revising the Spec as we go.
Sunday - Decent, cool in the morning.
Did the usual shopping with S.
No shower in the morning, because no hot water, because the propane tank was empty. Crazy. Seems like I just filled it, within the last few weeks.
Unless it was the spare tank that I refilled, in which case this one is more than due, probably. I haven't been doing a lot of washing and drying of clothes, since the machines were broken, so maybe it lasted longer than usual?
OK, researching it a bit, this tank might have been filled almost 10 weeks ago. Anyway, replaced it with the full tank.
Possibly the odorizer at the bottom of the tank was the cause of the exhaust smell in the house, though there was still a definite reverse flow of air from the water heater cabinet.
