Saturday - Decent weather, a bit windy in the afternoon.
Priming finally done. Started some final coat painting, cutting in around the windows and doors.
Because the neighbor's have the virulent strain flu going on I'm going to end up doing all the painting myself in the next couple of days.
They are predicting a huge storm here over Thanksgiving, so I'm hustling. But it doesn't warm up enough to paint until after 9am, and sunset is about 4:30pm, so it doesn't give me a lot of time.
Friday - Windy, but just tolerable mid day. Finished up the priming - I actually used all of my primer again. But I think things will work out.
There is a big pothole near the back door, where I was going to put in a temporary bit of patio, but I just haven't had the time or energy to spend of it. It will probably fill up with rainwater if I don't tend to it soon though.
Given the ground termite issues I should also put gutters on the house, and direct the water well away from it. One more thing to add to the list.
Thursday - Windy. Knocked off early because of it. Rain predicted now for the middle of next week, so I need to get the priming and painting done.
Doesn't look like I'll get the old trim replaced, or even painted.
Wednesday - Too windy to work outdoors. And my hands can really use the break, to be honest.
Tuesday - I replaced a couple pieces of clapboard. I'd like to do more but the stuff on the house is 7" x 1/3", and all I can find locally is 6" x 3/4". It'll be OK for now, but maybe I'll fix it in the new year. The boards have aluminum spacers between them. I'm missing a couple of these spacers, but can't find them online, and the couple that I pulled off the house have no manufacturer's ID on them, much like the clapboards themselves. Annoying.
It looks like current practice is not to use them, but current clapboard is cementious, and doesn't rot/degrade like the old fiberboard stuff does.
Monday -Veteran's Day. Took it easy.
Book #37 was Though Hell Should Bar the Way (RCN #12), by David Drake.
Sunday - Shopping in the morning.
We went by Vallarta, since S needed some lard for biscuits.
Just did various chores and things for the rest of the day.
