Saturday - Decent weather. Still priming.
I pulled the worst of the clapboard off. It's pretty easy to do, though I bought a couple of pry bars and a cutter to slide up under the planks and cut off nails (which I didn't need, but for $35 from Harbor Freight I'll just keep it).
I think they have replacement board at Home Depot, but I have a 12' length in the garage rafters still.
Hammering and banging is even tougher on my hands than painting. Ouch. Did some contrast baths in the evening after pulling the planks off.
Friday - A decent day. I started priming the west wall in places. Around the bay windows it has To be 100% brush work, which is tedious.
I still need to do repairs too.
I received the AAA renewal for a year on the new truck. Ouch. Although a lot was the old Explorer, which I need to get rid of. I've told the neighbor boy with a Ranger of the same vintage to take what he wants, but he hasn't shown up, so...
Thursday - A nice day.
I drove to Victorville and the RAM dealer replaced the side view mirror. It was actually a pleasant and reasonably inexpensive experience. The RAM averaged over 20mpg on the 55 and 50mph desert highways.
I discovered that the iPad does texting via Wifi - no iPhone needed, while over having dinner at the neighbors with iPad but not iPhone. Weird. Though only conversations with Apple devices.
Walking home I finally saw almost all of Orion above the eastern horizon. It's been very smokey and windy, so although I knew it was there I couldn't really see it before tonight.
Wednesday - Decent weather.
GH said he wasn't feeling well, and didn't come over. He seemed a bit under the weather yesterday actually, I couldn't tempt him to eat or drink anything. S says she probably has the flu, not food poisoning, which is good to hear when you've spent $$ on a bunch of meat.
I continued on wire brushing and scraping, and finally some more TSP and washing. I'll have to let things dry for a day or so, but it's warm and windy so it shouldn't take long.
Book #36 was To Clear Away the Shadows (RCN #13), by David Drake.
Tuesday - Decent weather still.
GH came by and we started wire brushing and scraping on the western walls. There is a lot of area, at least 900SF before windows are doors are subtracted.
It's in both better and worse condition than the other walls, it has spots where two and maybe even three layers of paint is on it, but it was applied haphazardly and doesn't make it much easier. There are spots where someone painted over leaves and dirt.
There are also curious wasps hanging around the northwest corner, and some damaged clapboard near the faucet there - I think the old owner let the soil pile up and touch the wood. I'll have to replace that, among other things.
Monday - Decent weather, but I took the day off from painting and prepping.
I did take a nice walk in the morning, but otherwise pretty tired.
S texted, said she has gotten what feels like food poisoning, possibly from the steak she bought at Stater Bros. when I bought mine. Uh oh. Mine are still in the fridge, unused, thankfully.
Sunday - Shopping in the morning. I picked up some steaks at Stater Bros., since I've been eating quite a bit at the neighbors and felt I haven't really been contributing enough.
Just did various chores and things for the rest of the day. Lots to catch up on.
