Saturday -A nice day in Lancaster.
I went out and started wire brushing the south wall. Paint is just falling off sometimes, it's actually worse than the east and north walls. Ladder work is slow...
Had dinner at the neighbor's. Afterwards we watched a Paul Lynde Halloween Special from 1976, Florence Henderson, Donny & Marie, Tim Conway, Kiss.... It was so bad it was good.
Friday -More winds and evacuations down below. I checked with Dr. G, he said they'd had to evacuate his place again at 3am, but that they were safe and sound in a motel.
Someone clipped my drivers side mirror while Dr. Gupta and I were at lunch - I'll have to get it repaired. A quick review shows cost as anywhere from $300 to $900... I was upset at the time, but it was a pretty crazy and surreal afternoon down there, I'm sure on a normal day it would have been fine.
I saw an Acer 4k monitor on Craigslist for $100 and passed the link along to S: with her movie making it'd be great. She went and bought it. Money is pretty short around here right now, after buying the truck and paying taxes and the increase in insurance moneys for the car.
Thursday - A bit windy, but nothing extraordinary.
Visiting with Dr. Gupta down near Sand Canyon. It was very warm, and they'd shut off his power!! If I'd known I would have brought my little generator for him.
We called around and found an open Denny's about five miles away with their power still on. While we were finishing he got a call that his neighborhood was being evacuated because of the fires!!
We tried to hurry back, but it took the better part of an hour to drive those few miles, then they'd closed his neighborhood, and we had to walk it.
While we were talking they lifted the evacuation order, and I left after making sure that he was OK.
Wednesday - Another nice day.
Relaxing a bit, gathering some stuff together, I'm supposed to visit with Dr. G tomorrow. I haven't done all that I should, because of all the house work, my hands are just not up to much.
Painting the walls has shown the trim in a bad light, but I doubt I'll have time to paint that, let alone replace parts of it. Oh well.
Tuesday -Another warm and windless day.
All three boys came over, and the north wall was painted with the finish tan color. This took about 4.5 hrs, with three people painting and myself "assisting".
There are high winds elsewhere in California, but we've been fairly calm here in the AV.
Monday -A nice, almost hot, day.
GH came over, and we rolled on the primer for the north wall, and brushed the holidays.
Sunday - Shopping in the morning.
A bit of prepping on the north side of the house, patching, cleaning, scraping, prior to priming.
I gave the lower three strakes a coat of primer, they were pretty much bare wood. We'll do a second coat tomorrow.
