Saturday - Hot.
And very smoky. Clearly there's a big fire not too far away, but the CalFire link just sends me to some Twitter stream.
Ah, to be a California government employee - do the minimum, and as much less as you dare.
Friday - Hot.
Went out and put down a layer of paver sand, compacted, screed it, repeated, and finally put down the pavers themselves. Because nothing on the house is straight or level some things will have to be redone a little, but it's 90%, and looks reasonable.
Also, and I'd forgotten, because these are real pavers the QC is horrible, and they can vary up to 1/4", which makes creating a nice square pattern a bit challenging.
That took until after lunch, and it was getting very hot despite watering everything every few minutes - didn't do much for the rest of the day.
Thursday - Hot.
Headed down to UCLA. Traffic was very light, the whole way down, and we arrived in plenty of time. They took her in early, so I just sat and read in the shade until she was done.
We'd been thinking of the gnocchi place, but wandered on down to the farmer's market instead, and had lunch in a chinese place there. I had some hotpot, she had what appeared to be a very underwhelming "fish ma".
Traffic back was a bit heavier, but we were still back in town by 3pm.
Wednesday - Hot.
Unloaded the pavers in the evening, just after sundown, so that the truck is mostly empty.
There is a dead microwave in back, with any luck someone in LA will steal it and save me the bother of going to the toxic waste dropoff here in town.
Tuesday - Hot.
Dug out the rest of the new walkway area, started tamping it down. Ugh. That really did a number on me. I think I'm done with yard work for a couple of days.
I picked up a few more pavers in town. I used a bunch on the concrete block fence posts, as bases. Another project that really needs to be re-done someday. I had the help load the truck, I'll have to unload before heading down to UCLA on Thursday.
Monday - Hot.
S asked if I can take her to UCLA on Thursday, so that's something to be done.
Sunday - Hot.
I went shopping with S in the morning, got just a few things, mostly vegetables.
We also hit Lowes, she needed a few things, I got some more paver sand.
I did remember to buy a tub, and some new bleach, so that I can cleanse the coffee making/drinking stuff. The old bleach, even though it was unopened, was completely useless.
