Saturday - Hot.

Went to yard sales with R&S, then Miso Sushi afterwards.

I wasn't actually feeling all that well in the morning, and the afternoon was miserable, between the jaw hurting again and massive intestinal upset. Bah.


Somebody has been eating the cat food I've been putting out.  Almost certainly Zeno-II, but I haven't actually seen it.  Could be squirrels or another cat...

Friday - Hot and humid.

Looks like my brother is buying a place in Carson City. Which suggests we'll be selling the house in Martinez soon.  I'll have to check on the status of all that at some point.


Book #32 was Young Man's War, by Rod Walker.  It was sort of an alien invasion/zombie/survivalist story, well enough done but rather short.  'Rod Walker' is an obviously nom de plume, taken from an old Heinlein book.


Did a six mile walk along the usual routes.  Trying to get out early and stick to a shady path as much as possible.

Thursday - Hot and humid. Running the mechanical a/c a lot.  Swamp coolers aren't efficient at 45% humidity.

I was going to go down to the boat, but just wasn't up to it.

Wednesday 2 August 2017

Wednesday - Average hot, but also humid. We are projected to have chances of afternoon thunderstorms all week.

Yesterdays thunderstorm left about 2" of water in my unfinished solar over.  Bad news: 2" of water inside.  Good news: built so well it holds water!


Had G over to do some yard work, I just don't dare do some things these days.

One of his family dogs passed away, old age probably. Just didn't wake up apparently. Sad.

Went to a funeral for a local scout master's wife.  I didn't know her personally, but she sounds like quite a character...

Afterwards went to Lee Esther's in Palmdale and ordered some nice Jambalaya.  Even took some home for Glen.

Tuesday - Hot and humid.  Had a real downpour for a few minutes.

Did some Nope! and Stars programming, morning and afternoon repectively, which is when the respective work stations have a bearable temperature.

Book #31 was The Bible Repairman, by Tim Powers.  It's a collection of stories, done in Power's wondrously strange style of realistic fantasy...
