Saturday 11  July  2020

Saturday -Hot.

Tried to do some entries on the blog here and the laptop overheated.  Need to do some a/c servicing I guess.

I have to do taxes too.  Should be simple this year though.

Friday 10 July  2020

Friday - Hot.

I went out at 4am and Comet NEOWISE is a naked eye object, though just barely, low in the NE sky.  The iPhone took a great picture with a 3 second exposure though.

Thursday 9 July 2020

Thursday - Hot.

Wednesday 8 July 2020

Wednesday - Hot.

Tuesday 7 July  2020

Tuesday - Hot.

It's Lancaster, of course it's hot.

Feeling tired and a bit depressed about that.

Good to see the cats though, they boys did a good job watching them, they (the cats) greeted me with a quick turn around my feet, then went and stood by their food bowls.

The Chihuahua's were much the same, "Oh it's you.  Any treatsess in your pocketesses?"

Monday 6 July 2020

Monday - OTR, Cayucos to Antelope Acres.

I only had two athletic/travel bags worth of stuff, I was packed and ready to go by 8am.

R&S, on the other hand...

I ended up schlepping 36 suitcases, boxes and athletic/travel bags of theirs down the stairs to the van. In addition the Corolla was loaded down with stuff to be taken back to Lancaster early.

Seriously, they need the steamer trunk luggage from Joe Versus the Volcano.

Traffic going home was a bit more than the nearly empty roads going west.  It wasn't particularly heavy, and the Corolla ran well, though I was careful to turn the a/c off on the way up the Grapevine.

Driving the Corolla was a blast from the past: the wind noise, the road and tire noise, the feel of being in a very small bathtub amidst giant trucks: it was like my 1991 Probe all over again!!

The mileage was spectacular though: 37.4 mpg overall.  This includes the Grapevine, a couple of trips idling about in Morro Bay and Cayucos, and over an hour of stuck in construction zones waiting for the flagmen to give the go ahead.

Book #42 was Fallen (AV #10), by Benedict Jacka. I haven't written much about the plot line of these novels, because they are complicated.  But in general Alex has a number of enemies, super-powered wizards and evil spirits, not much power of his own, and despite his best efforts to avoid trouble is knee deep in the brown stuff with the magical mafia and magical police both after him.  I'm only batting about 20% figuring out how he going to get away this time...

And that wraps up the story, so far.  Another sequel is due out in November.

Sunday 5 July 2020

Sunday - In Cayucos.

This is my last full day, I made a point of walking about as far as I dared on the beach - about 3 miles.

Picking up and packing in the evening, checkout is 10am.  It was a nice vacation, too short.

R&S have another place this coming week, then another place after that.  They are hoping to lure children and children's spouses, but everyone is dithering because of Corona Virus fears.

Well, the information is totally messed up, I can't blame anyone for any decisions they've made in good faith.

The Magic 8-Ball at the CDC is getting quite the workout this year.

Book #40 was Bound (AV #8), by Benedict Jacka.

Book #41 was Marked (AV #9), by Benedict Jacka.
