WEEK 27 2020
Last Week- Sun- Mon- Tue- Wed- Thur- Fri- Sat- Next Week
Saturday - In Cayucos. Happy Fourth of July to everybody.
The official fireworks were canceled, but there were a lot on the beach. The police didn't interfere until about 10:30pm, when I started seeing blue and red lights of the patrol cruisers down there.
We just watched from the house - a great view. We could see fireworks all the way from the Cayucos Pier to Morro Rock.
I had a couple of texts from friends in Ventura and San Diego: they said it was like a war zone, there were that many illegal fireworks. I guess that's a big FU to the governor and his lockdown.
Book #39 was Burned (AV #7), by Benedict Jacka.
Friday - In Cayucos.
Book #38 was Veiled (AV #6), by Benedict Jacka.
Thursday - In Cayucos.
Book #37 was Hidden (AV #5), by Benedict Jacka.
Wednesday - In Cayucos.
Book #36 was Chosen (AV #4), by Benedict Jacka.
For some reason my MacBook isn't loading images and scripts on Amazon properly, so no hyperlinks to there for now, instead it's links to Goodreads.
The iPad has had the same problem, probably a broken Safari Browser thing. I couldn't log into my bank account to do bills until I'd rebooted the MacBook, for example.
Apple can no longer maintain their own infrastructure I guess. The move to OSX helped (linux/BSD), but they apparently have no ability to keep things working.
Of course the same is true for Microsoft and the Linux world as well.
Tuesday - Hot, but the winds should be normal for the rest of the week.
I put up the other two awnings again.
S texted from the coast: the parking is so limited that they didn't think the RAM would fit. So I made a deal with Aaron next door: I'll borrow the 1990 Corolla and his wife can drive the RAM to work!!
The swap went fine, though there was a bit of confusion that led to a late start: I was waiting for him to call me and he was waiting for me to call him... Oh well.
Out of town about noon, heaving for the coast.
The Corolla went well, and after several hours I was at the coast. The parking was, indeed, limited: I could not have fit the truck in the available space.
The house was nice, if small. We were the first tenants for the summer: the owner vacated for the month.
The view was stupendous, the house is as high up on the hill as it is possible to go.
Monday - Hot and windy.
Soaking overnight in vinegar fixed the issue with the mister, so now the dogs should be set.
I've talked with Glen, and he's watched the pets before, so I think we are copacetic.
Sunday - Very hot and windy.
S came by and dropped off the dogs and their baggage: leashes, food, and most importantly: barker breakers!
She and Roger are off to the coast tomorrow, I'll join them on Tuesday.
Fiddling around with various chores, putting the mister where it needs to be and so on.
I picked a short length of hose (that doesn't leak) and set up the mister, duct taped to a 4x4 that was laid across a couple of cast iron chairs. Only to discover that the mister wasn't working well. It turns out that the orifices had mineral build up, so I put them in a bowl of vinegar to soak overnight.
I also picked up another tin watering tub, for the dogs to stand in. Backups upon backups, since I won't be home for the better part of the week.
