Friday - Back in town, pretty darn tired. I used up an entire tank of gas this trip - I'd filled it the night before leaving and the "Check Gage" light came on as I got back into town.


The Nook HD+ came in, so I took it out of the box and plugged it in to charge. Too tired to do much more.


Book #25 was The Last Guardian of Everness, by John C. Wright. Eh.


I also went to see Oblivion the other day. I wasn't expecting much, but it was really well done. A couple of twists that I didn't see coming, and filmed with impeccable CG effects. I guess Tom Cruise is a big enough star that no-one cuts corners on things.

And some nice homage to the old Star Wars movie - and V - too. Maybe more movies that I didn't notice at the time.

Thursday 6 June 2013

Thursday - OTR. Mapping in the morning, discussing lead abatement and testing midday in Agoura Hills with the inspector, contractor and abatement specialist, then consulting on inspection of a damaged drain out in Thousand Oaks in the afternoon.

Then home in very, very, slow traffic - a new fire slowing stuff down on the Freeway in Simi. Even stopping and having a nice dinner at Jinky's wasn't enough time for the traffic to clear.


Home about 8pm. I've been going to bed after 10pm every night this week, but this will be an early evening, I'm beat.

Tuesday - OTR, down in Ventura. I had some 1600' of mapping to do in Thousand Oaks, then headed down to the office to work with D on some other stuff.

Monday  3 June 2012
Monday - Running around, cleaning, doing various things around the house. I managed to get about an hour in on the app, but I need to be on the road tomorrow, early, and there wasn't much free time.

Lots of discussion and debate about how to deal with some of the remaining issues for the demolition task.

Sunday - It's nice, not as smoky as yesterday, though the odors from the residual ash in my swamp cooler filters is still obnoxious.


Lunch with a friend, then worked on the app in the afternoon & early evening. Made some progress too, which is nice.


Missing Dad today. I found this picture on his old laptop, obviously scanned from a torn B&W photo, entitled "My '35 Reo". I remember him saying that if he'd just kept all the cars he owned in his twenties and thirties in a shed somewhere that he'd have been a millionaire by the time he retired. Those "rare classics" you read about - they are the "weird old clunkers" that he used to drive.

He sort of looks like Steve McQueen in this picture.
