WEEK 16 2021
Last Week- Sun- Mon- Tue- Wed- Thur- Fri- Sat- Next Week
Saturday - Pleasant enough.
I went out and "finished" the last little bit of the pathway. I didn't want to finish without my helper, but when I asked him about it on Wednesday he said he's just too busy, so I did it myself. It's been a month since we stopped. It looks 'OK'. The old bordering 4x4 needs to be moved out about 1/2" at one end, but I didn't feel like redo-ing three year old work on top of everything else, it's good enough for now.
I'd like to finish the gate and step, but there are baby birds living in the eaves over that area, so it will have to wait.
Pretty beat afterwards.
Friday - Pleasant.
I put the awnings back up, since the winds are predicted to be normal for a while. I even put up the garage awning, with a new post and pier base, though I need to paint those and raise the attach point so it's more in line with the other awnings, just for visual effect.
Or I could put in permanent posts. But I sort of want to add more awnings, but am unsure of the loading they put on the rafters, since another triangular sail in between the other two would mean three attached at a single rafter. Some sort of load distribution would probably be best. A ledger board at the house would work, but it would have to be uncomfortably low if the awning isn't to brush against the fascia and rub a hole it itself. Or a post set in concrete just past the eave overhang.
And I want the post removable for winter time.
Thursday -
Wednesday - Cool, but still very windy, all day.
I did a bunch of chores around the house, stuff that got side-lined the last couple of weeks, what with all the traveling. Started at 9am and sometime after noon I realized that I was exhausted and knocked off for lunch, and, as it turned out, the rest of the day.
I did online and do some bill pay stuff.
I did not get any work done on the garage shelf's. I have to raise one, lower another, fix the unsupported ends, and paint. It's a solid morning's work, if I can get time and energy enough to do it.
The app really needs more attention.
Tuesday - Windy, scattered clouds.
I cleared off the shelf's with mouse sign in the garage, dusted and vacuumed them, and removed some of the drywall siding. These were put together rather badly, but I sort of like the idea of them, so I'll retrofit them properly.
Book #19 was A Wind From the Rift, by Bonnie Wynn. It was OK.
AH is helping a relative move. I went over and helped him for a few hours in the howling winds, collected a few things for myself that they didn't want. They did offer me some nice, but heavy, furniture which I declined.
Monday - More windy weather, constantly high and gusting higher. We are getting pelted with sand and dust here.
I can actually open the door in the early evening about 1/2" and the wind pushes a cool breeze throughout the house. And more and the wind actually howls as it exits the windows on the lee side.
If I put a towel across the bottom it keeps most of the creepy crawlies out. I should be a sweep of some sort to attach there. There was one, but it was plastic and disintegrated.
I did a bit of research and it looks like the mini-splits are a bit more involved than I expected. In particular they are more expensive, and they require dedicated electrical lines with disconnects. Electricians are expensive.
So I went ahead and ordered another window air conditioner, this being
the 6,000 BTU supposedly super quiet Haier Serenity series for the west
office. Best I can do at present.
Sunday - No Sunday shopping, S and I were both too tired to bother. And I can, unlike most American's, live for a week without hitting the stores.
I did some laundry, just because.
