WEEK 13 2021
Last Week- Sun- Mon- Tue- Wed- Thur- Fri- Sat- Next Week
Saturday - I had plans, more or less, to do more yard work and continue cleaning up the garage, but AH called early, and it's a road trip to Albany Oregon.
More when I get back.
Friday - Warm and not too windy.
I went into town and picked up another 40 brick colored pavers. I was surprised to find that they were $1, a substantial savings over the usual $1.48. I'm near the end of what I need for this project, and the main patio area in back I was planning to use better quality stuff, but now I'm tempted.
I could do a path around the north side of the house as well.
That mouse was still indoors, and (with my help) Budd caught it again. He was sniffing around a certain cabinet, so I oped the door and he leapt in and came out with Mickey in his mouth. I picked up him, and the mouse (since it was in his mouth!) and put them both in the garage to fight it out.
I believe it got away again...
Thursday -Decent enough weather.
I took the opportunity to start cleaning up the mess the dogs left in the fenced area, and stuff that I had left laying about myself. Even doing some light grading with the rock rake as I got rid of old bones, stones, bits of concrete and broken glass and even (using the magnet) nails. This took some hours.
I only did about 1/3 of it.
Wednesday -Decent weather.
Returned the dogs to my friends, got a nice (take-out) meal from Dickies for my trouble.
It wounds like they had a good trip.
Started the install of Big Sur on the Mac Mini. No real problems.
Tuesday - Windy overnight, scattered clouds.
I don't think I mentioned the propane filling issues last week. When Aaron and I went to get some on Sunday we gave up because of the length of the line: at least 20 people with up to a half dozen tanks each, all waiting to be filled. It would have taken hours. We decided to come back early, the next day.
I'd run out on Saturday, but since I had the little 40# tank attached there was no big hurry, that's good for a couple of weeks.
When we went back there wasn't too big of a line.
Talking to the CostCo guy doing the filling he said that yeah, Sunday was their record day of all time: 1700 gallons! Basically it comes down to people from restaurants using outdoor propane heating to keep their customer's warm. People from multiple restaurants would show up on Sunday and Monday, each with a dozen to 20 tanks to be filled!
Since partial indoor seating is opening up now he expects the demand to drop.
Monday - Cool and windy later in the day.
I was hoping to get the telescope out, but the winds were still about 15mph in the evening and it was cool enough (50F) that it felt cold.
Budd was out in the garage in the evening, as usual, but didn't meow to get let in as he usually would. I opened the door to let him in anyways at 9:30pm and he ran in: with a live mouse in his mouth!
He then ran in front of the chair where I normally sit, and released it, and started playing with it. And then it got away...
I let him roam the house for hours, but I'm not sure that he ever caught it again.
I need to check for prey before letting him in, I guess.
Did a bit more cleaning in the garage. Put a bunch of stuff into the storage container. Actually slightly pulled a clavicle muscle with some of the stuff.
Also doing a bunch of wash on blankets and cat mats and such. This takes forever, since it's heavy stuff, and it's a small combo washer and dryer. And for "efficiency" each load takes about an hour in the wash. Oh well, it doesn't take a lot of attention.
There'll be some left tomorrow, bath mats and stuff.
R&S are back, but late in the afternoon. So I'll keep the dogs a couple more days, since they both work tomorrow and there won't be a chance for them to come get them until Wednesday.
It's not a big deal, the dogs are pretty much self entertaining and have plenty of food.
Sunday - Cool overnight, but not horrible.
R&S are still out of town, coming back tomorrow.
All their pets are still alive, so that's a feather in my cap I guess.
I started some clean up in the garage, it had gotten pretty impassable. If I am to start on some interior house remodeling I need access to various things and a clear place to work.
Apropos of that, after getting propane on Tuesday I was going to see if the water supply valve at the street would turn. It's had issues in the past. But the vault was completely filled with loose dirt: apparently stored there by a gopher or ground squirrel. So I'll have to clear that out.
There is also (probably) another valve, sunken, near the house. I need to excavate and test it as well.
I can't access some of the basic radio controls because Dodge has locked me out of the infotainment system unless I agree to an update. I was going to agree, but now I'm a bit pissed off. I wonder if I can sue them for denial-of-service?
It was nice not having to get up and head out shopping on a Sunday morning.
