Saturday - A nice day.

I started this blog in Week 12 of 2002.  It doesn't seem that long ago...

I was feeling a bit better, so I did some light work around the house. Mostly just cleaning, folding and putting away laundry, piling unneeded things into the garage. I need to organize the storage again, but it's been hard to get to while hobbling about.

The grass - stickers and thorns really - around the house is getting long.  Maybe I can get the neighbor boys to trim it for me.  I really thought I'd have landscaping and trees and shrubs planted by now.  The best laid plans of mice and men...

I also installed a new LED light fixture in the dining room to replace the bare bulbs there. It's dimable, but I forgot to get the correct dimming switch, so that has to wait for now.

I need a desk light in the west bedroom - S said she found a Korean War vintage light at a yard sale in the morning that should work.  I have a USB laptop cooler pad, maybe we can swap.

Friday - Decent weather.

Feeling better.  Did some programming stuff, spent several hours working on taxes.

The Ubuntu 18 box found my wireless printer in the other room, and the PDF document viewer could even print in duplex.  Yay!

Leg is slowly getting better, but I feel anxious to get to all the stuff I need to do around here.  Also I'd like to do a bit of traveling, get a change of pace.


Neighbor's dog barked for about 40 minutes in the morning.  Hmmm.   I have a record, if it happens again I can notify Animal Control I guess.


Went over for dinner at the neighbor's. 

Someone gave AH another truck, a Ford Ranger...  Them that has, gets, I guess...     It's actually 20yo, and needs a bunch of work, but he's going to fix it up and give it to his son.

A different person, his smog guy, also gave him a bunch of old Ford Mustang parts, headers, sway bars, etc.  And his old Toyota passed the smog test.

I'm happy for him, he's a nice guy, but just a teeny bit jealous. OTOH I don't really enjoy working on cars any more, so it's all for the best I guess.


Book #9 was Monster Hunter Memoirs: Saints, by Larry Correia.  Good escape reading.

Wednesday - Nice weather.

The blog's 17th anniversary is this week.  I think I started on dial-up.

It's the spring solstice - no picture of the rising sun because it was cloudy in the morning, though it cleared up later.

Off to the dentist, spent about an hour there.  Stopped by the library on the way home, picked up some books I had on hold, one fiction and a bunch of programming tomes. I way going to pick up some printed tax forms, but forgot.

The drive home was perhaps the most painful voluntary things I have ever done.  The painkillers from the morning had worn off, and the hip was killing me.  When I got home I just laid down and slept until dinner time, then ate, then went back to bed.

Not much to say, worked on the app, basically learning Swift, and also working through a book on Python.

No shopping, S is out of town and I'm pretty well stocked up anyway.  It's too painful to sit in the car if there isn't a good reason.


S says that a number of the good apps for therapy are gone, or not updated for new versions of iOS.  She actually talked to a developer of one of the better apps, who said that he couldn't keep up with Apple's constant changes.  So I'm not the only one dealing with this stuff.


I am very tired of being an invalid, I really want to start working on the house and grounds again, but I need to wait until I'm a bit better.  And until after Wednesday, when I have to go into town for another attempt to get the crown seated properly.
